United We Stand Festival for Liberty

Last Saturday in LA was one of those special afternoons. The weather displayed perfection and all the month’s greatest events landed on the same day. Fortunately I was able to attend the one that had seemed the least likely to prevail on the list, despite my desire to be there. That was due to the fact that the Free & Equal Elections Foundation sponsored festival United We Stand, was up against the Culver City classic car show. My two great passions cars and politics on the same day and time! What was a patriot car lover to do?

I hadn’t heard of the organization Free and Equal Elections Foundation, which is a non profit whose mission is a grassroots movement to shift power back to the individual voter through education. When it was announced at the last minute that something had fallen through on the announced location of UCLA campus, I felt hope. I attended the car show happily not sacrificing my patriot dignity. My fellow patriot and I waited eagerly to find out where the location would be. It kind of reminded me of the days in New York City when you eagerly awaited the announcement of the location for the after hours party. But this event held far greater meaning to me now as an educated patriot than any silly party did. Yet it added that extra excitement I remembered as to whether it would be pulled off at all. As the afternoon passed, we weren’t sure the event could possibly find another location to accommodate such a large event.

As the magic of liberty would have it, the event found an even more suitable location at The Belasco theatre.  

‘United we Stand’ would finally go on. We could already feel the victory. We were delighted to see the line that wrapped around the theatre. It felt good to be amongst like minded freedom lovers. As we began to absorb the crowd there, we surmised perhaps some were there just for the music. Then we thought, what genius marketing. It was an unconventional way to reach out to people who would never usually hear about these issues. Perhaps these last minute location details would be the future for constitution lovers that are more than ever being deemed old fashioned or conservative and even oftentimes targeted and shut down.  

The Belasco theatre is one of the precious little gems buried in the dirty elements of downtown Los Angeles. The theatre was founded in 1904. A striking dome ceiling houses ornate woodworking along the walls, a fusion of Spanish Renaissance, Gothic and Moorish detailing. Greek goddess statues and gold woodwork made this a regal establishment to hold such an event. The night delivered a smoky velvet haze of architecture, music and of the intelligent open mind. The velvet curtained stage held an air of richness, and the night was rich indeed with knowledge and education.

It was a medley of music and speakers.

The conversation in the panels of speakers covered topics such as The Patriot Act, NDAA, NSA, Monsanto, drones, foreign policy, election reform, internet freedom and the central banks. Due to the logistic complication, the schedule lagged behind. Sadly the headliners that had lured us in, such as libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, Larry King of Larry King Live CNN, former Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Independent Congressional candidate Marianne Williamson never spoke.

Panelists did go on which included Foster Gamble the creator of THRIVE documentary, Emmy winning journalist Ben Swann, Richard Gage of Architects for 911 Truth, Abby Martin of Breaking The Set, Emmy winning former CNN journalist and whistleblower Amber Lyon and Green party Presidential candidate Jill Stein. Musicians included Chuck D of Public Enemy and Wu Tang Clan. Each panelist answered maybe one question at best. The whole time I was wondering where I could submit my question. I can say they accomplished their mission as I witnessed first hand a young mind become educated on the NDAA. My patriotic heart smiled.

It was an ambitious lineup that the night wasn’t able to complete. It was successful in introducing and educating people, particularly the twenty something’s, on a vast array of issues that are all important pieces to the orchestrated dismantling of our way of life and our constitution.

I found it to be the answer to the frustration liberty fighters find when attending a single event that addresses merely one topic of concern. United We Stand covered just about all of it with the exception of my own personal cause favorite, Chem Trails. The festival is said to be taking to the road and could be found in a city near you. I never did find out where to submit my question to the panelists, but I fed my patriotic soul and blew a kiss to universe in thanks for working out the scheduling. A proud sense of patriotism welled in me and I knew that it was the least I could do for Liberty to support such an endeavor. I realized connection between my love of classic cars and all things classic really. It is a time made up of a certain foundation of ideals, morals and integrity. That time is special, classic. What could be more classic than the constitution?
